I love household items that do double duty, and the Luminaria Post by Estudio Ninho is so clever yet so simple, it makes me wonder why no one else has thought of it first.
Brazilian designers Vinícius Lopes Leite and Gabriela Kuniyoshi packaged the lamp as an easy-to-assemble set that includes the base (a trio of wooden legs), lamp shade (a thin sheet of cork), and a top piece with a compact fluorescent light fixture.
The cork attaches with push pins and emits a soft glow that's better suited for accent lighting. The whole lamp assembles in a matter of minutes!
