With the SIGG lunchbox still out of stock, our dreams of an uncrushable lunchbox have been delayed. Is this shiny number the solution?
We spotted the To-Go Ware tote in MIX, a Portland, Oregon food magazine, then zipped over to Whole Foods to check it out. The verdict? It’s certainly uncrushable. It’s also a bit too heavy for us to consider toting on our 2 1/4 mile commute, which we do on foot. If you’ve got a shorter commute, stronger arms, or a low-carbon set of wheels at your disposal, it’s worth consideration.

Cost Plus has a slightly smaller lighter version of this that I carry with me on my daily walk to work, but my commute is about 1/2 of yours. I think it was only about $10.
I have these and have NEVER used them after 2 years because I can't microwave in them. I guess if I kept dishes at the office it would work, but I'll stick with my glass pyrex dishes with the plastic lids for now. . .

It is lighter weight than carrying glass containers, and the smaller plastic containers (which are thick, not flimsy) seem like they will hold up better than tupperware, which I always fear spilling the contents when I carry.
Thank you for publishing this! I just used a <a> camping pot to do take-out last week and was reminded that I'd seen one of these a few years back. I hadn't had the time to track one down, and now I don't have to! I'd love to have two of these to have on hand for the times when we do "to-go" or for my husband's lunch!
I have this exact thing (purchased at Whole Foods, before I got a farm and stopped needing to go there). I love it. I don't use it as often in the winter because I eat a lot of soup and soupy things in the winter, and it is not watertight. The weight doesn't bother me much, though I have a long commute with 3 different public transit systems -- bus, ferry, bus -- and ~1 mile walking in between them.
I keep a big wide ceramic bowl at my desk, anyway, so it doesn't bother me that I can't microwave in it, either; I don't microwave in plastic either so it isn't much different from the alternatives.
What does bother me about it is that its size and shape make it impossible to put inside my computer or messenger bag. It would be hard to take on a bike, for example, without a wide pannier or something like that.
