When you think of home automation, you often think of costly and difficult installation options. Lutron, the powerhouse of home lighting and the inventor of the dimmer, has come up with a DIY alternative that allows anyone to install a customized lighting system in their home with very little effort. We were treated to a demonstration at CES of the Lutron AuroRa, which proves to be a simple way to install automated lighting in your home.

No wiring is needed, you simply need to install the dimmer plates like any light switch, and everything communicates wirelessly. You have two controllers, one wireless remote and one central control, and a discreet antenna that connects them all. The central control allows you to turn any dimmer on and off, individually or all at once. The wireless control is a more personalized configuration geared towards your entry into the home. With the wireless remote, you can turn all the lights on or off, or hit your programmed favorite lighting setting as you enter the house. The kits are available at your local hardware store or online at Lutron's site for $800.
