We thought these chicken coops were the pinnacle of cool, but they're pretty lo-fi compared to the self-contained modernist coops (or rather, co-ops, with areas designated specifically for "work," "live" and "play") designed by Raad. Every major component panel in these coops "represent one aspect of urban chicken life," most notably the 4 nestrooms regulated by passive heating and cooling systems and a solar-powered fan. Coops are delivered in flat sheets to your door and can be assembled, sans tools, in an afternoon.

As is to be expected, this high-class coop comes with a hefty price tag: $3,500 for the coop, and $400 for the optional summer panel.

I love, love, love this, but I almost fell out of my chair at the price tag ... yowzaa.
Toooooo Small!!!!! Chickens need to get out and scratch around.
Seriously talk about missing the point. Removing the acrylic panel, and replacing it with a nice wire mesh would sold the problem of having to use yet more plastic and power for ventilation.
Puh-leaze.
This is not a chicken-friendly design. It looks good, and I see that they're selling it as an option for very small spaces, but if all you've got is a balcony I daresay you oughtn't keep chickens.
The other coops linked to in this article, however, are pretty cool.
