I don't buy hangers very often, but in the last few years I've been really frustrated when I've tried really economical wooden ones. Even the Swedish Giant, whom I love, has furnished me with unsatisfying hangers that simply separate and drop onto the floor after a time. So what do you do? Check out these three great choices with a nice big splurge at top.

Kirby Allison's Hanger Project

There are no other competitors on the web that I know of who are gunning for the perfect, luxury coat hanger with such conviction. Just one visit to Kirby Allison's website will convince you to let this man hang your clothes. Hangers are pricey and the standard hanger is $26 for one, but they are sold in sets of 5 and there's a sale going on right now. Check out the special features and the lovely purple padding on the women's hangers that you just want to touch.

Superior Natural Wood Hangers - $9.99
The Container Store

This is Container's upper end offering with thick, sculpted wood and a rubberized pant bar. If you want even simpler you can go down to their Basic Hanger, which is significantly cheaper and has a great review from Sweethome.

AmazonBasics Wood Suit Hanger - $22.99 for 30

If you just want a lot of basic hangers at less than a dollar each, you can't beat these from The Zon. All solid wood, with a swivel hook, bottom bar and side notches.

This just in: Mawa Hangers are metal and extremely clean and efficient
