Luxury Hotel in a Historic Setting

Whenever I write about a new or interesting accommodation in my city, I often think "I'm going to play tourist and stay here for a night." Then reality sets in and I think of hundreds of ways the money could be better spent. Well, with the new luxury-boutique Hotel Monaco opening its doors earlier this month, perhaps it's time to plan that 'staycation' after all.

The Monaco brand is part of the San Francisco based Kimpton Hotels, a collection of upscale hotels. Known for setting up shop inside historic structures, the Hotel Monaco Baltimore is situated inside the former historic Baltimore & Ohio Railroad building on downtown Charles St. The 202-room hotel has all the amenities needed for living grand. There are 500-thread count Frette bed linens and L'Occitane bath products. Spa tubs for two and large flat screen TV's. They have "Tall Rooms" with extra-long mattresses and "Pet Parlor Rooms" that cater to guests with furry family members. Flying solo? Doesn't sound like you'll be lonely here. Enjoy an in-room massage, wrap yourself in a giraffe print robe, and order room service while your complementary goldfish keeps you company.

Of course, we know that this sort of place usually comes with a steep price tag - $329 to $1200 to be exact. But if you hurry, you can enjoy a luxury hotel with a limited budget. They currently have a grand opening rate for a mere $129!
