Name: Lyla Kate (9 months)
Location: Bryan, TX
Color Inspiration: For practical reasons, the red glider from my son's nursery served as the starting point for our color palette. I found lots of girl bedding that I liked - but, nothing with red. I began looking at fabrics and found an old Amy Butler print that I loved and enlisted the help of my mom and sister to create something unique. The chair, the fabric and a black and white striped bird that I wanted to use became the color foundation. The other colors came in as I added old items used in our rooms as kids and new gifts from special people. I even borrowed some things from friends and other parts of our house. I love color and always end up using more than I originally planned!
Tip for Using Color: Don't be afraid of color, it makes life interesting. Starting with things you already have will introduce you to a color palette you may not have considered before. Don't feel like you have to dream up a room and then go furnish that room. Look around your house and find things you already love or that may just be practical for you to reuse and let that be your inspiration.
Colors Used: Light Blue, Red, Gray, Shades of Pink and Black and White.
Thanks for your colorful entry Brittney and good luck!
