Name: Lynette & Cameron
Location: River North — Chicago, Illinois
Our styles can be described as modern eclectic with a propensity towards tactile authentic objects- objects that tell a story and that we can touch and feel. We like mixing old and the new, like having recycled douglas fir wood for our fireplace next to our modern kitchen.
Our renovation was quite extensive. We had to convert one bed room upstairs to three bedrooms. and knock out the room downstairs to make way for our kitchen and open up the room.
With a toddler in tow and a baby on the way, the 2 story loft we live now is our perfect compromise. It has the openness of a loft-living downstairs while offering privacy of three rooms upstairs.
Thanks, Lynette & Cameron!

Shaw's Original Fir...
Lovely space :) In my opinion many loft spaces tend to look empty and cold, but yours looks so warm and welcoming without looking cluttered. It is so spacious and I can tell that you have really put a personal touch on everything.
I love lofts! But if planning to have a family it sometimes just doesn't seem practical. This is such a nice compromise, love that you still have the idea of loft living!
Love the modern rustic.
Love the tile in the bathroom, fun!
I would love to see a full house tour - but without the lens distortion. The fireplace is beautiful and seems very cozy!
That's one crazy bathroom floor!
Source list please!
Did you do the fireplace yourself or hire a contractor? We are looking to do the same thing in our bathroom and live in Chicago. If you used a contractor, would you mind a recommendation?
I'd love to see a proper Tour of this place, if only to see the bedrooms.
That bathroom floor is too cool, as is the acreage of marble on the kitchen wall.
Great place, love the mix of rustic and modern. Where is the floor lamp in the living room from?
that bathroom is wild! not my flavor, but i can dig it.
Wonderful. Love love love lofts and yours is so nicely done! Curious about that awesome big floor lamp!
Tour Please!
Why is this ONLY a house call? This place deserves a TOUR!

Where did you find your bathroom flooring? It's so unique! I love it.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments!
1. Biascut- We hired an architect to do the redesign of the loft and he recommended the contracter-Helios design. The orginial fireplace was an awful stucco that was off-centered and it took a couple of reiterations before we were all happy with the design.
Here is the architect's blog which also features the before and after: http://strawville.wordpress.com/2011/07/10/erie-street-loft/
2. The bathroom tiles- we actually found it here on apartment therapy! the company's name is :Villa Lagoon. They are cement tiles and handpainted.
Yipee ! Thanks for showing our tiles in your cool bathroom ! The Patchwork has been a big hit for people with small spaces who want to take the emphasis off the small size or for places like laundry rooms just to bring is some cheer.
Thanks Lynette,
