The only window in our condo's living room is a slider that faces east so natural light is at a premium, ergo the super white walls and white slipcovers. The living room occupies one half of a 22.4" x 15.6" room (the other half is our dining area). Living in New England, we love to change our soft accessories with the season. Since my first box of crayolas, I've favored yellow, red-yellow and green, but I am equally influenced by what I find at thrift and consignment stores and the abundant natural beauty of our coast.
Colors used in my room:
Wall color and trim : Benjamin Moore Super White. Pillows and quilt: turquoise, yellow, and red-yellow. Pops of color: artwork and decorative accessories. And natural elements including bamboo, wicker, plants, driftwood, and stones.
Tips for using color successfully:
I heard someone once say that people who paint their walls white have a fear of commitment. I find the opposite is true...white commits you to scrupulous attention to detail and showcases color to great advantage.
