Name:
Lynn
Location:
Grandville, MI
Division:
Dark
Inspiration for my palette:
I was inspired by my Dutch heritage for colors in this room, hence the bright pop of orange against the dark navy walls. My dad was born and raised in the Netherlands, and during a recent trip there, he purchased a Holland football (soccer) scarf for my husband. The scarf became the focal point in the nursery, and rich navy walls really tied it all together.

I also introduced the Dutch passion for bicycles when I found a large wall clock made from a recycled bike tire from an artist in Portland, OR. The hands of the clock were originally painted red, but the artist graciously painted them orange to coordinate with the room.
Colors used in my room
Navy, orange and ivory
Tips for using color successfully
Don't be afraid to paint a small room with a darker color, especially a nursery! The dark colors add a richness to the room - plus it makes the room dark for nap times!
