Color is great, but it's even better when combined with another color, then another color, then another....

Ercol Bar Stool
OMG we had a million of these growing up!
Would regular interior wall paint work to paint a metal filing cabinet? I have a lot of samples of colors we rejected for the wall that would look great on a file cabinet.
I had these cups growing up... takes me back!
Pretty sure my parents still have some of these (faded) cups floating around. Tupperware was so ubiquitous for kids before BPA came into the news.
Lol, tetegrondona, actually it's $14 for 7 plasctic cups but I agree it's ridiculous. The cups were originally sold in sets of 4 (this is two sets minus a blue one). I see them often in the CS here for $1/set IF they're not on clearance, which they usually are.
I own a set which, btw, I bought new. They've survived two generations of kids, been bleached numerous times and are still the same vibrant color as the day I bought them. Bonus, the lids that fit other tw cups fit these as well making them perfect travel cups for wee ones. Plus, tw's sippy cup lids also fit them. Got those too. These cups have seen tons of use here & are still pressed into service for lil visitors.
That said, trust me when I say the paintbrushes in the above pic are carefully staged, precisely balanced. The larger one alone would be enough to tip the cup over if one so much as breathed on it. They make great colorful, stackable storage for smaller items if you have the solid lids. Any more than 25 cents a cup is a ripoff. $14 for 7? I.think.not.
Hi Sally,
You don't want to use regular latex paint on metal. You do have a couple of options if you don't want to spray paint, though. ACE makes a house brand similar to Rustoleum that you can have mixed in any of their house paint. So you can roll that on, giving a nice enamel finish. Just use a small sponge roller.
Second, you can use one of the new chalk paints like CeCe Caldwell's or Annie Sloan. You can paint right onto the surface with no priming or sanding and it'll adhere to any surface (fabric, metal, glass, wood...) but the finish will be softer, not a glossy enamel. It depends on the look you're going for. I sell chalk & clay paints at my store. Drop a line if you'd like to learn about using them.
Lastly, if you are avoiding spraying because of limited color options, check out the Liquitex line of spray paints. They're available at Michaels and have MUCH more range between colors, plus they're much less prone to running.
Hope that helps!
