The problem here is, if you put anything else remotely truck-themed -- or even overtly Industrial in style -- with these rugs, you have a room from Monster House.

Admittedly, the tire mark design likely has limited fan base (NASCAR fans, anyone?). But...follow the link and take a look at some of their other rugs...I'm especially fond of the zen rock garden (imagine the rake marks in the sand on that little zen garden you got for christmas in 1996).

It's nice to see a pattern that's not floral and cutesy for once. Definitely nothing to do with NASCAR. Why do people want to pigeonhole so much?

I actually kind of like some of the simpler variations. Has a sense of humor about itself, which is refreshing -- and reminds me of being a kid playing with my Tonka trucks.

Made me smile, it's not like there's mud in the pattern or something.

Makes me want to run a vacuum over it--to get rid of the treadmarks. It seems messy-looking to me.

And any NASCAR-er will tell you those ain't the right kind of treads, any how!

You really have to take a look at their website. The tire track rugs are only a sample of their work. Though there are many rug fabricators who specialize in custom carved/sculpted rugs, this couple's work goes well beyond the usual. Regardless of your opinion, they have really taken this form of rug fabrication into an artform.
