Never before on the market, Madonna's 6,000 square foot penthouse, decorated by her brother and called "low-key yet glamorous" by Architectural Digest, has been listed for $23.5 million. The duplex property has 110 feet of Central Park frontage, and costs over $11,000 in monthly maintenance.
In other news, wind turbines get a plant-based upgrade, and there's finally a pop-up book made of LEGO. See the headlines after the jump.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Presumably not decorated by her brother Anthony
Monthly maintenance is almost a low wage earner's take home pay for a year.
Not getting the hostility to Madonna. Nope. Don't get it. Whether you like her music or not, she's not a young, arrogant investment banker whose only "talent" is moving numbers around on a spreadsheet.
At least Madonna sings and dances and has been doing it for 25 years all around the world. She made money the old fashioned way. She earned it.
What on earth gets done for $11,000 a month or even $1000 a month?!!! It's ok to be a have, but when thousands of dollars have no more meaning to you than having a dollar in your pocket...
It depends. $11,000 might by a lot of services and that can mean employment for a lot of people. Not living in Manhattan, I really can't say. But if you are spending that much money, you should have a more acoustically designed apartment.
I don't resent people who have earned a lot of money from spending it in any way they choose. I just question whether the current Financial Industry Masters of the Universe have actually EARNED their money. Madonna is an entertainer. She contributes something to the world, whether you like her product or not. I'm not sure that the financial industry contributes anything of value that they don't subsequently negate with their unethical and reckless behavior.
So, not against entertainers who make loads of money spending it in any way they want and if she ends up employing people with that $11K, that's fine with me.

Couldn't agree with you more.
That said, I just bought a book with part of a Tamara de Lempicka image on the cover, but Madonna has a real Tamara de Lempicka hanging in her apartment...
I give Madonna props for sticking around for 25 years. You can't say that about many musicians.
Getting a bit off-topic, but Madonna was at Madison Square Garden just last week and Psy (Gangnam Style-guy) showed up. There's a great, fun clip that's been circulating since then. Psy shows up at the 1:40 mark.

annag81, you took the words out of my mouth.
agreed, that lilac room with the pianos is just awful.
Agreed, this property is tacky - not what I was expecting from Madge.
