Inspiration for my palette:
The fabric I used for the drapes was the inspiration for my bedroom. I bought several yards years ago on clearance but had not found a way to use it. I think for me it was the fact that there weren't enough colors, since I am usually an "all colors, all over" type person. When I realized it worked perfectly with a quilt I already had I figured it was meant to be. Now I am so glad I took the plunge, the soft blue helps create a peaceful retreat after a long day.
Colors used in my room:
When we moved into our house in Germany last year I was ready for a new look, and I had just the fabric to get me started. My primary color was a cool blue that I think always works well with black and white. Using some bold black and white fabrics and furniture helped bring out the blues and a pop of gold/green adds a bit of impact.
Tips for using color successfully:
I love to get my basic together in one hue and then throw in a few pops of color in an opposite hue. Here for example I had a room full of cool blues so I added just a few pops of a warm golden/green color.
