In honor of back to school week, it is time to list Pearl River in our Stores Guide. A longtime staple of the Chinatown/Lower Broadway shopping scene, Pearl River is a store you might not walk into - it just looks too chintzy - but if you ever do, you'll quickly find yourself lost for hours among the odd, practical and unique items they sell. And if you have been there, you go back, because there is always something new at PR.
NyCom say:
This treasure trove in Chinatown is the ultimate gift source, specializing in quality Chinese goods of all sorts.
NY Mag says:
The prices are a little higher since they moved the Canal Street location to Broadway, but this Chinatown department store is still a treasure hoard.
And we say that as far as kitchenware (great tea pots, cleavers, kettles), dinnerware (great bowls and placemats), and home decorating classics like paper lanterns of all shapes and sizes, this is an absolute must stop. MGR

if your looking for something asian...this is the perfect place to find it...it is the best for light and cheap dishes
Excellent selection of oddities for the coffee table top --> jade spackled dishes, sliver-shaped ceramic incense holders, midget buddha men, and wooden and straw containers of all sorts. Also an thorough collection of all things bamboo--window shades, floor coverings, placemats. Good deals on kitchenware like rice cookers, a whole shelf of chopsticks, wooden spoons, Chinese soup sets, etc. Occasionally good for larger accent pieces like antique-look trunks and large vases.
I'm looking for centerpeices for a party that can hold a pillar candle in center with seashells and sand... I would like a clear container do you have a catalog or pictures
You can't go wrong here. Pearl River Mart has tons of beautiful things to choose from. I bought a long bright green & yellow cotton kimono robe, jeweled slippers and wrapped soaps as a birthday gift for a friend for about $50. They also have a large selection of bowls, teapots, chinese foods - the list goes on and on. If you want memorable, one-of-a-kind and, most importantly, INEXPENSIVE gifts, look no further. I love this store!
