We love lighting up our home for the holidays but are always on the lookout for options that don't remind us of our college dorms where Christmas lights stayed up all year long. Of all the holiday lanterns we've seen this season, these offerings from Pottery Barn are definitely our favorite.
Q: I recently painted my Craftsman dining room (larger photo below) with white trim and royal plum walls. My table is a family heirloom that I just had refinished so I'm not even going to dare to leave it bare. My question is: what color tablecloth or even table runner with placemats do you suggest? I really want it to look elegant so I'm thinking gray but part of me would like to be adventurous and go with green or orange. Any thoughts?

Just because winter is approaching doesn't mean we're heading inside--at least not in Southern California. We're looking forward to taking our favorite cozy blanket and cup of coffee out on the stoop to take in the fresh morning air. We are afforded a little privacy by our stucco stair railing but some folks have to create their own hidden oasis.
