This online exhibition of Olympic Posters took our breath away. Doesn't each poster perfectly capture its era? And what a great way to get a sense of trends in graphic design — so much changes in four years! And not that you needed more ebay search terms, but wouldn't it be awesome to have one of these.

We love checking out the work of pattern designers not just because we love new prints (which we do!), but because it's often a great way to predict upcoming color trends. We asked pattern designer and illustrator Samantha Hahn to tell us her predictions for fall trends and what her favorite color pairings are...

We have plenty of projects for dogs, cats, and even for bunnies, but finally here's one for the birds — an aviary created by using a old tv storage armoire!

When Linda and Claes Leyon purchased their home in a French village, they traded a not-so-special cement box for a spectacular view. They warmed up the space by haunting local flea markets for one-of-a-kind finds. The resulting mix of modern lines with rustic antiques and sparkly chandeliers creates a perfect juxtaposition.

We spotted these fantastic paintings on one of our favorite reads, of paper and things. Tracy, who is based out of Knoxville, Tennessee, uses the wood from dead Red Elm trees to create the discs that are then sanded and clear coated, and finally painted to highlight the rings of the tree. We love this look!

The pouf seems to be a design trend that has some sticking power, but no one is really interested in paying top dollar for the designer version. First, we found a source for cheap Moroccan poufs (many of you felt they looked a little too cheap). Then we found a pattern for a DIY knitted pouf, and now we here's a DIY Moroccan-style pouf! That's a lot of poufs! Do you have a favorite? Or are you all poufed out?

Chances are you'll either be a house guest this summer or you'll be receiving one. You might guess that we peruse quite a few design/home books. Most of them aren't blog worthy, but A Warm Welcome by Amy Elliott was just published this spring and it's been the favorite to come across our desks in a while. Not only does the book have great advice for the host and house guest alike, but it also has recipes and activities. We loved it so much that we asked Amy to share some tips to being a great host. We've just can't get enough of black and white stripes. We posted a roundup of black and white rugs, but thought we'd go a little further and search out some other black and white accessories. So here are suggestions for pillows, lamps shades, wallpaper and more — all in black and white. We've started the roundup with a couple of inspiration photos. Please note that we are not, by any means, suggesting that anyone use all the striped suggestions in a single room! A little bit of stripes can go along way.

Intrepid travelers are customizing vintage VW buses to serve a mobile houses. Would you consider life on the road in a Volkswagen bus? If so, you can actually purchase the bus in the first photo. If that seems a little hasty, you could just rent a VW bus outfitted with all the essentials...

Shelly from Flipt Studio sent us this pillow making project which utilizes those fantastically wild plaid jackets you can find from at the Goodwill or other thrift stores. The tutorial is really a 3-in-1 as Shelly teaches how to: cut the jacket to find usable fabric, make a covered welt cord, and how to join two loose ends of welt cord together (a technique used on many upholstered projects). Yes, this project is for the truly crafty! Are you up to the challenge?
