Steve works for a non-profit social services agency, Solid Ground. Nancy works at City Peoples’s, a garden and hardware store. Their charming 1958 home has retained a lot of its character because they purchased it from its original owners, Chellis and Nympha Easton. I was told to make a point of mentioning that they “are SO PROUD to own a house built by a guy named ‘Chellis’, with a wife named ‘Nympha’.” Some aspects of the home underwent an unfortunate 1980’s makeover, but they are doing what they can to bring it back to their vintage aesthetic, mostly inspired by 1960s Sunset Magazine.

Name: Erin & Chris Location: Fishtown — Philadelphia, Pennsylvania These photos represent the culmination of almost 3 years of hard work, and certainly the most challenging experience of our lives. Starting in 2007, we gutted a 4,000 square feet building in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia and carved out two, two bedroom apartments, as well as an artists studio/commercial space. Purchasing and renovating with a construction loan smack in the middle of the mortgage industry meltdown presented plenty of challenges from zoning to inspection. We were unsure that we'd ever get to live in the house we worked so hard on! All worked out in the end though, and now we are thoroughly enjoying the fruits of our labor.
