I completely adore every inch of Meta Coleman's amazing home, but when I saw her daughter Maja's room it took my breath away. There are magical details in every nook and cranny of this modern fairytale space. The antique Danish bed is the true showstopper, but really every detail of this little girl's room is a feast for the eyes, from the playful chalkboard wall to the vibrant Marimekko curtains to the lovely woodland toys.
How would you describe the look and feel of this room?
This is a room for my little two-and-a-half year old girl. This is a colorful, cheerful room. I wanted it to be fun and be a space where my daughter would want to play and be creative.
What is your favorite piece or element?
We really love to draw on the large chalkboard wall.
What was the biggest challenge decorating this room?
It's quite a large space with a large section of windows. One of the biggest challenges was making the space with windows dark enough so that my daughter can nap. Also, to make everything flow together to be cohesive.
What do your friends say about the room?
They love the exposed shelving and the low hanging clothing.
Do you have any advice for parents creating a room for their child?
Have fun with your child's space and try to incorporate their personalities in their space.
If money were no object, what's your dream source?
These storage houses from Tulp.
Most of the items in my daughter's room are vintage, passed down from my mother or me.
