Name: Major (1 year)
Location: Norman, OK
We had to create a space for our baby boy, Major, as well as a guest bedroom for family that comes into town. We wanted it to be light and bright, with a mix of modern and traditional.
The room is only 8' x 8', so it was a challenge finding the right place for everything. Most of the furniture is from Ikea, and the crib is from Walmart. We love to mix patterns and textures, and keeping the furniture light made it not look so busy. The mobile was a DIY with Christmas ornaments. The photo wall is a tribute to where we have lived, NYC and OKC, as well as a drawing by big sister! My sister made the chevron crib bedding, and the houndstooth carpet was a steal on Rugs USA. We love how it all came together and enjoy having friends and family come and stay!
Thanks, Heather! Well done!

Super Job. I love the paint color. Curious what brand did you use?
Just curious as to where baby sleeps when you have guests over? We're going to have to do the same thing pretty soon, and I can't figure it out. Do I move the crib into our bedroom??
Is that the changing table at the foot of the bed?
the paint color is benjamin moore harbor gray.
we put major in a pac n play in our room when guest come....or both g-ma's love to sleep in there with him:)
yes, that is the changing table, it's the ikea hemnes 3 drawer in white.
I'm a Sooner fan yet O so happy there is not football paraphernalia in Major's room! Adorable.
Where did you find your cube/shelf unit? I'm about to purchase the cheap one from Target, cause I haven't been able to find one like yours.
Melmac, I believe that is the Expedit bookshelf from IKEA.
I don't understand why we still see so many bumpers in cribs. They're a SIDS risk that smother a few kids a year and don't prevent any injuries to the baby.
Yellow Coffee Cup: our guest room is also the baby's room. When guests come, he sleeps in a pack n play in our room. Works great.
So much style, I love it ! The colors, the patterns, everything is perfect.
Fifthpocket: We took the bumper off the crib just before my baby was born because of this, but I got tired of watching my poor son bang his head on the crib slats. He can move around a bit, but he'd get stuck and just bang, bang, bang. He has bruises on his little head. So I got a movement monitor (Snuza Halo Baby Movement Monitor) and put the bumper back on. I'm so glad that I did. And if his breathing slows, become irregular, or stops, the monitor will let me know. Meanwhile, I'm not being woken up to a screaming baby with a bruised up head. So yes, bumpers do prevent some injuries.
Omg, source for that houndtooth rug, please!
We skipped the whole bumper drama and need for monitors and just have baby co-sleep with us or in his pack-in-play in our room. :)
