So you saved your pennies and bought yourself a new pretty iMac. They're simply stunning and one could sit and stare at it for hours, but how's the desk look that it's adorning? If you're looking to diy a throne fit for
an Apple product, check out this tutorial to make one with extra leg space and sultry good looks.
Now, although we love the look of the computer and the desk, we're pretty sure those dueling Matrix posters are making a big statement as well (we're just not sure if it's the right one). That said, we love the set up
that Instructables user Romando12187
has created. The wires are hidden, the top is thick and beams light across the surface and is an all around job well done.
The supply list is rather small and there's only two items on it that really hike the price up, so if you happen to have a source for either the veneer or the acrylic, let us know in the comments below!
4X 4"x4"X6' pine beams/< $30
1X 2'x4'x1" acrylic sheet w/ 4" squares cut out of corners/~$300, I purchased this from canal plastics in chinatown, they did a nice job cutting and polishing the acrylic, but it should have been about 50 dollars cheaper.
1X 4'x8' teak veneer, with 20 mil backing/$120
1X Wood filler/$9
1X Clear Polyurethane Semi-Gloss /$12
1X Minwax finishing paste/$9
1X Dry wall screws/$10
How do you like this diy desk? As sexy as you had hoped or does it fall short of your expectations?
