This puts a whole new spin on the world "candleSTICK." I always love a good DIY project, especially when it duplicates a designer or retail look for pennies instead of pounds. This West Elm lookalike is a cinch to create and gives a sleek, natural and modern appearance to any surface it graces.

Our friends over at Craftzine drew our attention to this Flickr member who took matters into their own hands instead of paying out hard earned cash on a little decor.

A branch was selected and then placed on a flat surface. Small, shallow holes were drilled and... well, you can figure out the rest. Just add a candle and you're good to go. I love the silver paint that adorns the outside. You could also gold or silver leaf it, apply glitter or even a little shoe polish to give it a more rustic and worn look.

You can find all the details from UNIFORM natural who gives you the quick run down of this simple project over at Flickr.
