If you're looking for something a little different in the world of decor, check out this simple DIY project that is a "swinging" good time. It "bridges" the gap between fun and functional and I bet you're "hanging" onto the edge of your seats to see how to make it right?
Over at Instructables, user fungus amungus has been busy deconstructing a traditional bookshelf and making a few modifications. A chop saw was used to cut the pieces into equal sizes and then each piece had two holes drilled through them. They were strung up with washers between the pieces to create visual gaps and mounted to the hardware.
It sounds simple and it really is — especially since the end result looks so sophisticated. Although you probably won't use this idea to hold your entire library, it might be fun for a shelf or two for a more whimsical display. Check out all the details over at Instructables!

What a clever twist on an otherwise standard idea.
Very cute idea!
Although I would not personally use this, I think it would be darling for a child's room, especially if done in multiples.
Love this! Although it's not my style for books, I'd love to see one of these in a kids room for stuffed animals! Like a Pet Net!
This could translate well into a modern kitty bed!
I would worry about little paws getting pinched - but I had the same idea. :)
I love this!!
Imagine painting all the wooden parts in different bold colors and using it for a childrens room. That would be so nice.
It would probably damage your books, but I'd love to have one in my bathroom for rolled up towels.
cool idea :) I love the rolled up towel idea from mjs7640
This is such a cool idea! It's just that I have way too many books for this :D
This will definitely damage your hard back books. But so will storing them on a flat shelf at an angle. To keep your books in good shape, keep them either flat or standing straight with bookends.
When hardback bindings have a tilt to them from being poorly stored, you can say the book is "cocked".
This totally solves the sagging bookcase dilema by embracing it :O
I really like this, may use it in the future.
