Lavender is a great thing to plant in your spring garden because it can be used in so many ways around your home. This is a fun, amazing-smelling craft to file away for when the plants are in bloom.
The DIY Club dips styrofoam balls in cups of lavendar and strings them together for a fragrant and fabulous look. It's a simple project that creates a big bang for your buck and not only looks great, but smells wonderful as well. It would be great as a gift or just hanging about your own place.
That said, there are a few ways you can green this project to leave a lighter eco-craft footprint. For starters, look for green glues in your local craft store. Where places like Joann's and Michael's used to only carry one or two, now there's an entire section in the adhesive aisle and you have all sorts of products to choose from.
Next, eliminate the styrofoam and use small wooden discs or nuggets chopped from branches instead. They're lightweight and will convey the same look without the plastic centers. You could also knot up a small length of fabric into a ball, use a the spikey balls from a sweet gum tree (a little sand paper takes the burs of), or whatever else you find in your craft arsenal.
