You know what we love more than making a birthday boy or girl feel extra special? Busting out a cute craft made from repurposed items of course! This birthday badge is adorable and although it might not be the literal icing on the cake, it is a great way to put some polish on a big day.

Over at Just Something I Made, Cathe has been busy tearing apart old badges and buttons to create something rather unique. She uses large buttons (though if you're doing this in bulk, you can buy a badge maker at the craft store for less than $30) and a bit of Mod Podge to adhere the two together and places them in the middle of an old ribbon.

The finished look is quite lovely. We can see making one for every birthday and your child keeping a collection of them as they grow older. If you don't have any luck drumming up vintage ribbons to tear apart, many party or teacher stores will keep inexpensive ribbons that can be dismantled without breaking the bank.
