Lately I've been laundry basket hunting. Folks, the options aren't exactly plentiful. Sure there's options, but I don't want to hide my laundry (I won't actually do it) and I don't want teeny tiny baskets that don't really hold anything. I think I'll just have to make my own. Check out this project that uses old screens and a few casters to get the job done.
This laundry basket has a cute vintage, rustic look. It's simple enough for anyone to put together with a few basic tools and a couple of hours worth of time.
Old screens make up the sides of the basket, which lets air flow through and helps you keep track of when it's time to start a load. Want to see how it's made?

Shaw's Original Fir...
Oh, I like this. Thanks for posting!
Oh, this is a fantastic project! I'm going to be purchasing a mobile home soon so I won't have to go up and down stairs to do laundry. I am so making this.
Very cute -- but I find myself wondering how you get the items out of the bottom of the hamper!
I love this! I'm thinking I'd like a double one so I can sort and have the dark side and the light side.
Thank you for sharing!
This is very cute. I think it would also work for a kid's toy bin, if made a little shorter or if you rotate the whole thing on to one long side. The kids would be able to see what is in the bin.
However, as a laundry bin, this would only work if you live on one floor. I can't see lugging this up and down stairs.
I have old screens in my apartment, and they're so old that, when I tried to clean one very carefully, I punched a hole in it! So be careful with how old your screens are or they might just disintegrate like mine!
This is great, going to be making one of these next week. :) Thanks for sharing.
