We love the idea of shadow puppets any time of year, but at Halloween they seem especially fitting. Kate Petty has come up with a simple way to make not only puppets, but a theater for them to star in from something extra simple — a cereal box!
On Minieco, Kate shares how to create a simple theater using a piece of vellum and an empty cereal box. If you're not big cereal eaters, you could also purchase a bakery box from the craft store (or sometimes your local grocer if you ask the bakery ladies nicely).
After the basic structure is ready to go, all that's left is decorating the box with a basic scene. You can use whatever items you'd like from around your home: scraps of paper, coffee stirs, popsicle sticks, real sticks, anything at all!
To go with the ensemble, try making a few shaddow puppets that can be used in conjunction with the theater or all by themselves. Perfect for using anywhere in the home to have a little fun. They're simple to make and Kate has even included a template for both the puppets and the theater in case you're not feeling extra crafty.
