Around this time of year, the internet seems to be flooded with wreath ideas. They can be loaded with doodads and whatchamacalits, but this wreath is much more up our alley. You only need two things, tinsel and an embroidery hoop. Score!
Over at Creature Comforts there's been some crafty wreath making going on. Quite often we see a wreath and think, "oooh I want to make that" but never really get around to doing so. This tutorial is so simple, there's no excuse not to put your words into action this time around.
The idea is simple, wrap tinsel garland around an embroidery hoop. By overlapping the garland onto itself, it creates this magically fluffy and full wreath in no time flat. Check out Creature Comforts for more photos and the link to making that white waxed flower you see adorning the wreath!

fun!
simple and chic. especially the silver one!
Oh now I read this!!! I could have picked up embroidery hoops for next to nothing along with gobs of tinsel at an estate sale today. Lesson learned, read AT first, then troll for treasures.
DEFINITELY, practical, quick and easy... wish i had the time to make some of the intricate beautiful wreaths we've seen around the interwebs but time is not on my side... thanks for this idea!!!
saw this on her site and thought how simple and genius it was!
I wonder if boa feathers would work for this idea instead?
An easier version is to simple stretch a wire coat hanger into a round shape and wind the tinsel garland around it until it's full enough. A white feather boa also makes a nice holiday wreath and is so easy if you use a wire coat hanger. Or take a look at my dry cleaning plastic bag wreath.

I couldn't resist running to the store for sewing circles (which I love using for wall decor anyway) and tinsel. Here's how mine turned out if anyone is interested: http://diy-my-home.com/2010/11/tinsel-wreaths/
I love this! I used aluminum foil to make a frame for wrapping the tinsel around...you can check it out here: http://adventuresinsemiadulthood.blogspot.com/2010/12/diy-tinsel-garland-wreath.html
