With winter coming to a close and allergy season on the horizon for many folks, sniffling and sneezing is tackled with tissues. The boxes are always a little lack-luster, so try this quick trick using a handkerchief and a few strategically placed knots. Check out the video after the jump!

Michelle took the time to catalog this old tutorial with step by step photos and a video to demonstrate how easy it really is (even if it seems slightly complicated). It really only takes 3 knots and a little know-how to get the job done. Best of all, you can change out your cover as many times as you want, switch colors, patterns, designs... and really integrate something small like a box of tissues into your design aesthetic.

A tissue box cozy...how special.
There is a "d" in handkerchief. Just sayin'.
gross.
Most tissue boxes are not that ugly that I would feel the need to cover them, besides I have allergies so I empty a box in record time.
so cover something that's gonna come in contact w/ germs in cloth instead of w/ something you can easily wipe down???
Urgh, not cute. They make tissue boxes in plenty of reasonably decent designs that this is so not necessary!
uh, if you have handkerchiefs then why not use those instead of tissues that you're just going to throw away?
I'm all for crafty projects but I really don't care if my tissue box doesn't match the rest of my decor..
hehe, exactly d4kk1tt3n!
Next time I have a cold, I'll put on my favorite appliqued sweatshirt--the one with the calico teddy bear--and whip up a few of these to set around the house.
The vid title says: making tissue paper cover by handkerchief (like handkerchief is a name)
So the title of your post is weird: Make A Tissue Box Cover From A Handkerchief . It's really an old ripped-up tee shirt. All in, the whole thing is a total mishegaas.
Ick. Perhaps AT could call for a moratorium on granny crafts?
Man, tough crowd. I think it's a decent idea. And I really don't get the ick factor -- its not like you wipe your nose on the box, people.
"-- its not like you wipe your nose on the box, people."
I might consider it if it was covered in an ugly, old t-shirt.
I agree with outonalimb. I'm also just wondering why a tissue box can't just be a tissue box. Guess I'm getting weary of seeing so much crafting used in ways that are really unnecessary.
The world is filled with sad things. This is one of them.
Aaahahaha at rosenatti ^^
