We're big fans of simple, inexpensive crafts here at Apartment Therapy. They not only provide a sense of accomplishment and a handmade touch to your home, but can save you money. These simple rope containers cost a whopping $2 and a little time to make!
Michelle of The Gilded Hare has been busy making baskets/containers. These simple projects only involve a bit of hot glue and a 50' length of rope.
You could mix things up and alter your rope choice, dip dye them, or dip them in paint or even rubber to make something truly unique. It's a great project to take on during a night of tv watching, and could be the perfect diy accessory for bathrooms, office desks, or those catchall spots around your home.

Nomade Express Slee...
Hmm, you know, this could be a goofy/fun way to make cheap easter baskets too!
I love this! thank you for posting :)
My idea is to slip a glass jar inside the rope container, to help decorate a boque of flowers! or even a pot for a plant.
wow, these look awesome! i love diy!
Wow, the hot glue trick makes those dead simple. For a more authentic approach, you can find upholstery needles at your craft store and stitch the layers together, but for the time investment, your glue technique looks just as good; just keep them away from steam radiators, the stove, or anywhere else you are concerned about re-melting the glue.
