You can't start art soon enough with these little ones. That's why we were psyched to come across this homemade edible finger paint recipe over at The Imagination Tree. It's just the perfect activity for a blustery winter afternoon cooped up indoors.

Just look at those little hands! Edible in and of themselves. The recipe involves simply cornstarch, water, and food coloring. Mom Anna warns that it's not exactly yummy. The children may not actually want to eat it, but if they do there's no harm.

Shaw's Original Fir...
I always used white chocolate pudding dyed in the colors my son asked for. That way it's not only just edible, mommy can eat the leftovers during naptime.
Probably best if it doesn't taste yummy, we don't need kids thinking they should eat their art supplies now do we?
Didn't this get covered in another "edible art supply" post on here- call it non-toxic homemade finger paint, not edible. Unless your goal is to get your toddler to chow down on the stuff (a big ol bowl of cornstarch- yum!) why encourage that idea by calling it edible?
That said, shyviolet's idea of using pudding mix to make actual edible finger paint sounds not bad. If the distinction is made clear to your child.
Yogurt and food dye make a fun combination as well.
yea have to agree with erica on this one, we don't want them seeing other paints lying around in the future and thinking that's edible too...
