Vases are one of those items that everyone loves and would like to have more of, but when it comes right down to it, we're not usually going to be using several at once and tend to just add clutter to our storage cabinets. This simple idea allows you to make your own, in any shape imaginable, whenever the need arises.
Now don't get me wrong, vases are wonderful in their own right and if you have space to store them, more power to you, but for those short on storage, they can easily feel like clutter instead of beautiful display pieces.
Erica Domesek has made her way in this world checking out designer fashions and trends and recreating them at home and this is just another example. She uses foam core and empty glassware to create custom vases that have a fun 2-D look to them and could easily be stored for later use or made to deck out your place for a party without spending a fortune.

I kind of love this so much.
the edges will be messy and u'll just end up throwing it away, and the jars take up room also.
Buy why?
Looks like something knocked up on Blue Peter.
to me, the better solution is just to go to the Goodwill, buy a few for a buck each, then give them back when you're done with them.
If I went to a party at someone's house and they had done this, I would think they have mental health issues.
Why all the negative comments? They are super cute!
I have no idea why I would do this, other than maybe to hide some hideous gift I was given when it's still too soon to donate it. Or if I felt inclined to incorporate decor in my home as seen in local community theater. Whichever.
The reasoning the article gives for doing this makes no sense to me at all.
i think it's probably a foam faux vase. I suspect that foax foam is not what you're going for.
These would work well for cartoon characters, or for anyone else who lived in a two-dimensional world... or for anyone who couldn't just put a flower in a bottle.
I'm going to make a fabulous faux foam antique sideboard facade and tie it to my Lack table, and then sit back and soak up the compliments.
I'm sorry; that was snarky. I just find the idea -- using the faux as a way of avoiding storing the authentic -- very funny. I actually like the idea here if it's done with tongue-in-cheek, as fun-shui.
Snarky but excellent, Lola.
Very creative. I'd rather run to Goodwill or another thrift store to pick up more vases or or place my vases in the middle of leftover fabric and use string, rope, or ribbon to tie it in place. There's nothing wrong with mismatched vases or using glasses, mugs, cups, etc for flowers.
Honestly, I clicked on this post just to see all the snarky comments about what a horrible idea this is. Not disappointed:)
^Same. Shameful, but same.
I am going to cut out a faux foam husband tonight that looks like Matt Damon, and just staple it to my actual husband. It saves so much storage space not to have to keep both the actual Matt Damon and my actual husband in the house.
I dunno, I think it's kinda funny, in a tounge-in-cheek kind of way.
Cute and fun.
Is this faux real?!
Zing, Atomicranch.
@Sussu..that was funny.
Those things are cute but don't save space. I have seen plastic bag vases that lay flat and look cool if saving space is what you are looking for.
