Seating. It's something many rooms require and many more benefit from, and if you have been wondering what type of furniture piece you should choose to bring a pop of red in a space, we humbly submit seating as an option. From benches, to chairs, to sofas and more, a red seat in a room is a bright and bold beacon beckoning guests (and yourself) to take a load off.
In the center of a room in a seating arrangement, a red chair will tie a space together, and along the wall in a vignette the color red will keep a piece from becoming a wallflower. If you don't believe us, just check out the evidence found in recent Apartment Therapy house tours:

Nomade Express Slee...
Most of what you're calling red is orange. I like a burst of red or orange as a bold accent, but, please don't intermingle the two!
I think AT needs a section on how to incorporate dogs into your home decor.
I'm prepared to make an offer on the French bulldog right now.
Love red furniture. In my living room, I have 2 small red leather tub chairs. (The couch is in 'oatmeal' coloured linen.) In my TV room, we have 2 red leather Ekornes chairs (one small for me, one medium for my husband). Plus we have a red 'flip' couch in our spare room on the second floor. Too much red? I don't think so.
I don't know what it is about several of those rooms that give me the heebie jeebies. I love pops of orange but who knew I'd have such a strong and negative reaction to the red chairs. Perhaps it was all the other stuff thrown together with them or the fact that I've never liked red. But I guess that's what AT is all about, checking out combinations of all the elements of a happy home and keeping or discarding what works for us. It's a truly useful tool for making choices that work for us.
WE have 2 matching red recliners in our livingroom/den. Black Sofa with printed summer flower pillows; with some red of course. Kitchen has white walls with red acessories. Open concept diningroom white walls; black round table red and cream round rug under the table. Place mats of various designs all with little pops of red. :>) Sound like too much; but when you see it it looks better than it sounds...if you like crimson red! PS: We rent; so I had to decorate with our furniture and accessories; as the walls have to stay white. sounds overdone; but again seeing it would change your mind. :>)
