It doesn't matter what time of year it is, we're always on the lookout for great party decor. Enter Jordan, who can do just about anything with tissue paper and will show you how too!
Jordan is the blogger behind Oh Happy Day, a great place to pick up tips on entertaining and more. Her most recent project was to recreate these geometric lanterns. They add great style and during an evening of tv watching we're pretty sure you could bust out a whole room full for your next party, indoor or out.
All you'll need is a needle and thread to make two small stitches (don't worry if you can't sew) and some tissue paper in your favorite colors. Get ready to fold and you're 75% done already. Want to see how they're made?

Shaw's Original Fir...
Reminds me of The Sims. Heh
medusa12120, I think you misread. The writer was saying that WHILE you were watching TV you could make a bunch of these for a PARTY.
I like to watch TV when I'm watching TV.
I like the colors shown; black and blue and cream and celadon. And the lanterns don't look too bad for a craft project.
I'm confused as to why they are called "lanterns". They are pretty decorations but I would think that a lantern would have a light source. I don't see anything in the tutorial that shows whether or not your could attached these to string lights or something.
Aren't lanterns supposed to have lights in them?
These would be great decorations for a party . I'm always confused as to why whimsical posts (like this one) illicit such negative reactions. It's a paper "lantern" people....relax.
These are charming! Would definitely be a great project for an evening of tv watching. Plenty of space on the coffee table & few materials means quick cleanup when it's time to hit the sack. No muss, no fuss. Actually, I think I'll add this to my 'rainy day project' list now. Pop in a good movie, and a few folds & cuts later, toss a few pre-folded ones into my party box with a roll of ds tape. Voila! Quick assembly for the next celebration. Sounds like a plan. Thanks Sarah Rae for the heads-up. Been a while since my last visit there.
I will add, the atmosphere there is charming, too. Here's hoping it's contageous..
Simple, stunning & you could even make a chandelier from mini versions a bit like the glass one in Three Colours: Blue - my most coveted household object ever!
The lanterns are cute!
