Whether you're traveling somewhere new or enjoying a summer long "staycation" here's an activity that will keep your kids unplugged, engaged, and a bit more aware of their surroundings.
Marin from brown*paper*packages recently tried this out in Seattle with her boys and it worked out great. She simply created a Bingo card in Excel, printed it out, and then drew pictures of objects they were likely to see while walking around the city. As they saw each one they marked it on their cards.
As a bonus activity, she had the kids color in the drawings that morning when they awoke a tad bit too early to start their journey. Although Marin used this idea in a big city, we think it is also perfect for car rides, vacation spots or anywhere else you may be adventuring to this summer.
