Hi, my name is Sarah Trover and I'm a not-so-secret craft hoarder. When you attempt to make things before you buy them, it's easy to get such a hobby (that could possibly border on addiction). Want to know something cool about the buttons above? They didn't used to be that color!
Patty from Capture the Details has the same problem I do. Or rather, I have the same problem she does. Either way, we both have a ton of buttons just waiting to be used. The only frustrating thing is that one can only make so many projects with your typical black and grey buttons. New fun colors are available at the store, but that defeats the purpose now doesn't it?
Instead, Patty takes a quick coat of spray paint to handfuls of her stash, giving her beautiful shades of the rainbow that are extra inspiring and sure to be used in all sorts of projects and crafting adventures. Although spray paint itself isn't exactly eco-friendly, there's probably a can somewhere in your house that a few sprays from it wouldn't hurt.

Many buttons are dye-able. The resulting color is softer and more translucent.
This post reminds me that I have been meaning to make my son a Frog Toad Button Coat...
wouldn't the spray paint rub off or wash off relatively quickly
You can dye plastic and wood buttons! I dyed some of my boyfriends golf balls green. Been meaning to do some buttons.
I buy a bag of magnets at the dollarstore and stick the button on it with a glue gun. Those become my refrigerator magnets and they look pretty good that way !
