I have this love/hate relationship with washi tape. Sure, it's beautiful, but what the heck am I really supposed to do with it as an adult who doesn't have much time to leisurely craft? This project kills two birds with one stone. My need to use this pretty colored tape and to "dip dye" my furniture legs.
We found this cute, simple idea from Jan at Poppytalk. She likes the idea of testing out color before committing to it and this bright pink roll of washi tape was just what the doctor ordered when it comes to a color test run.
Washi tape can be changed out on a whim and even helps protect this part of your furniture from nicks and scuffs. It's the best of both worlds without thinking 4 months later, "What was I thinking about ____ color?" Try the color, change it up, keep your look fresh, all with a little tape!

Or, if you have a piece of vet wrap from the last time your vet had to bandage your dog's leg - you can achieve the same thing and even have little hearts on it. LOL
Genius.
Please don't.
Wrapping tape around a couch leg to appear dip dyed is a terrible idea. The tape will overlap at points making it look cheap and... well... like tape.
BUT I do find the third photo on Poppytalk interesting. They used the tape to create two parallel stripes on the leg. I'm not crazy about the color, but that could look nice in the right color combination.
It looks like tape on a sofa
I don't understand the obsession with washi tape. Sure, it's cute - for scrapbooking, or wrapping presents. When used in 'grown-up; decor, it just looks tacky, IMHO.
this is a weird trend. i think it's one thing to do it on a stool or a table - things with long, maybe elegant legs. but on an odd sofa, and with tape, not so awesome.
