Even in this digital age of email (or maybe especially because of email), receiving a hand-addressed handwritten letter in the mail is a heartwarming experience. Thank you notes really say "thank you" when you take the time and hard work to write them out and personalize them. But you can make the workload a whole lot easier if you take a second to create a font from your handwriting at Fontifer. Can you say "mail merge?"
Catch up with everyone in your contacts application the "old-fashioned" way when you send out news, invites and thank you notes in your own "handwriting." It's easy once you've created a font from your handwriting at Fontifer. We won't tell if you don't.
With a process that's simple (basically 4 Steps) and a price that's affordable ($9), we might just start typing on our sticky notes:
- Print out the template at Fontifer.com.
- Use a decently-thick black felt-tip pen to fill in each box with the letter, number or symbol each square asks for. Guides on the template can help keep your baseline or x-height consistent.
- Scan the entire template and upload it to Fontifer. Follow Fontifer's guidelines for file type, size and resolutions. If you want, you can tweak the font a little in photoshop before you upload!
- You're almost done! Just preview your font. If everything looks legit, name your font, pay with a credit card or PayPal, and download!
If you're ready to get started, head over to Fontifer!

I used Fontifer to capture my friend's handwriting for an album artwork. It was a tiny bit fuzzy and I had to make a few position adjustments on the form in Photoshop, but it worked great for us!
This is amazing. My husband and I are still typing out our thank you cards from our wedding. We decided to type them out on an old typewriter to give them that personalized feel, but dang, no delete button is a killer. We keep telling ourselves that misspellings give the cards character...
This is a great service but honestly, I would be a little offended if someone typed me a thank you note. Unless it was my grandmother or someone who physically had difficulty writing.
It would bother me quite a bit to get a typed note, especially if I spent nearly a day's work of earnings on a gift. It took me hours to earn the money to get the person something they wanted and they're unable to take 5 minutes out of their day to actually hand write a thanks?
I think making your handwriting into a font is a really cool idea for something like personalizing a blog or making labels, but most definitely not for writing letters or giving thank-you notes.
I have been meaning to do this! It such a great idea! I don't think anyone should be offended to get a thank you note this way. Most weddings have a guest list of over a 100 people, that is a lot of writing...and people make mistakes and have to start over. I think its fantastic! No wasted paper!
This is cool, but there is no way I'm paying money for this.
Ok, this is cool and all, but lets not mistake this for a "handwritten" note.
It's very cool if you do any publishing work and want to have your own font...
But I have to agree with most of the previous comments that I would much rather do the writing by hand/receive "Thank You"s that have been hand written. Cards are generally the only thing I will never type.
This is nifty, and I want it. But not as a substitute for a hand written note---especially as a thank you for wedding presents. If you can find the time to send out invitations, you can find the time to write thank you notes.
The only "personalized" thank you note is the one that you write in your own hand. Unless for some reason you cannot hold a pen and write---using a typewriter (or a computer) is louche.
Oh gosh. Don't give a present if you expect a hand written note in return. No one is forcing you to spend a hard day's pay on a gift.
In general, giving a gift should be an act of love or care. Not a transaction or bribe for a note in return.
That said, my rule is hand written notes are a must to anyone over 70. Granny's get special treatment.
Nothing can substitute face to face relationship! A piece of our personality is out handwritten card/letter. I believe that to dearest people in your life you should write letters yourself. But there are situation when handwritten notice is highly welcome to the person that do not know you handwrite. In that case you use ThankYouPen art iPhone application which sends hand-written letters and greeting cards directly from iOS devices . You type your message and post team physically handwrites a message, address the envelope and mail it to the recipient.
