Put down the iPhone and go low-tech this weekend by making your kids their own tin can telephones. Remember this little project from childhood? It always amazed me as a child.
Joel of Made by Joel just made these simple tin can telephones and it inspired us to do the same. Once you gather the materials (2 tin cans, can opener, hammer and nail, and string), it's a project you can start and finish in less than 10 minutes. Dress them up by letting your kids paint or decorate the cans.

Oh man do I remember these. We couldn't spend a weekend at the cottage without using some.
I hate to be a killjoy, but which cans can you use that don't have BPA lining them? Have to say, though, that I love the idea.
Fun times. I don't think that BPA is a threat here, unless our kids are licking the insides of the cans.
I used cans from Trader Joe's. They're one of the few that are BPA free. But yeah, it's pretty hard to lick inside the cans. Anyway, yay for Trader Joe's!
