Make Toy Spice Jars for Kitchen Play

The other night at dinner I made the mistake of letting my 2-year old put black pepper on her pasta all by herself. She loved the shaking sound so much that I had to wrestle it out of her hands before her pasta was completely blackened. You can't blame her, though. There is something fun and intriguing about that cha cha sound.

I decided she needed a set of spice jars for her play kitchen and that they had to make a similar noise to our pepper shaker. I found seed beads on clearance at the craft store and poured them into plastic storage jars. A little dab of strong glue just inside the threaded part of the lid to keep it secure and cute labels (downloaded free from Poppytalk), and they were ready to go! Homemade cha cha chili for dinner!
