We've established that although many people find the act of sleeping with your pets a little skin crawling, there's a good portion of us that snuggle down at night with our furry friends. The biggest problem most people have with this arrangement isn't the extra body in the bed — it's the sheet stealing!
I can't lie, my own bed is inhabited by one small dog all night long. When hiding out under the covers gets too toasty, he emerges and flops on top of all the bed linens. It's at that exact moment that the covers from both sides of the bed instantly shrink up into the middle under his weight.
Although everyone is comfy, the rush of cold air from outside the covers can be quite startling. This sheet from Orvis is designed with your pet in mind and although those without this problem will find the idea completely ridiculous (it's ok, we kind of do, too), adding a pleat to your sheet would make all the difference in the world. If you're not looking to pay the $98-$150 price tag for the item, maybe a DIY project is in your future.
You could easily track down a set of inexpensive sheets to sew your own in or bribe a friend with a sewing machine to do so for you. There's no real sewing knowledge behind things, just cut down the middle of your sheet and sew in a big triangle. Easy peasy and no more freezy. What? Sometimes you just have to rhyme. It's not like we do it all the time.

White Enamel Flatwa...
I don't sleep with my pets (they prefer to hide under the bed all night), but my husband tends to sleep on top of the sheets and roll around on them... so this might be a good idea hahaha
Two sheets! Said it before and I'll say it again, no couple should sleep with just one sheet. ;)
Nice try...but no....get off the bed....
I would have guessed this was just a joke! Even better, though, is the fact that no cat will sleep with me. They'll snuggle for a bit when I'm still awake, but once it's clear I'm dozing off, away they go. I am such a sound sleeper that I wake up for nothing, so cats quickly learn to stay away lest I roll on them, or whatever I do that keeps them away - I'm not sure. I'm asleep! And there's no way I'm going to let a dog sleep in the bed. They don't fold up their legs all nice and tidy or do that relaxing purring thing.
wow, bunch of haters...
My dog and my husband are both cover thieves, but the dog only snuggles down on the bed in the winter, when our stone-walled apartment stays below freezing all night long. She sleeps on top of the covers though, and we cover our comforter with a fleece blanket to keep most of the fur out of the sheets. So even though this is a cute and funny idea, it wouldn't really work.
I have a tiny dog that sleeps on my bed with me and it's not so much the sheet stealing that bothers me it's the dog hair. But she's 11 and has been sleeping with me since she was the size of the palm of my hand, so kicking her off the bed just seems rude now. :)
I love that the dog is sleeping what we call "H-wise" - taking up as much room as possible (like the horizontal part of the H).
Our solution to both the spouse and dog stealing the duvet was a king sized duvet on a queen sized bed. Works great, looks fine.
super hardcore dog lovers here, my bed has a dog bed on it, designated doggie area... it avoids the H position. 1 dog bed now is way better than all 3 dogs clambering for space like it usto be for me. the blanket is all mine and the dog bed is all my pups! :)

genius does it come in Egyptian cotton?
I doubt it would work for our cats. They tend to follow us around in bed, often leaving us all lined up in quite awkward positions in one side of the bed and all the rest of the bed on the other side of the cat completely empty.
But I still love having them there. ;-)
And to think that I'm here wasting time writing empty silly comments when there is people inventing REALLY stupid ideas that will REALL make them money.
For a while I shared my bed with a boyfriend, 2 small dogs, 1 large dog, and a cat. It was quite comical having us all together in a queen-sized bed. This is what happens when 2 animal-people start dating.
Now, the cat is gone and we bought the large dog his own bed which he loves (on the floor). So it's not so bad.
I'm the cover thief of the the family, so naturally I don't see the need for more than one sheet. I wake up completely rolled up in blankets. ;-)
Cat sleeps across my legs in a vain attempt to keep me from thrashing in my sleep. When I kick him enough times, he finds a safer place to sleep.
umm... why not just get a larger flat sheet?
Our best solution to this problem came to us nearly twenty years ago while traveling in Germany - two duvets, nearly twin size, and no top sheet. Each person get's their own duvet, critters fit in between and making the bed in the morning is a snap.
