Refrigerators have been providing a canvas for kids of all ages to display their artwork, whether through drawings held in place with magnets or the magnets themselves. Reminding us of one of our favorite childhood toys, the Lite Brite, this project found on Instructables, is fun on multiple levels. DIY, fridge magnets, and LED lights... sign us up!
Using 20 LED lights and supplies found at your local hardware and electronic store, Instructables user Sockmaster shows us how to create our own LED fridge magnets. Since it involves working with lighting, some soldering skills are required.
We think LED lighting can add high visual impact, like in the backlit bar above, with a low impact on an electricity bill which is something we can really appreciate as our air conditioner causes our electric bill to soar. Creating art out of magnets is fun and the fact that these glow like a Lite Brite makes working with them all that much more awesome. Between the impact of the LED lights and the magnet form factor we think this project is pretty swell.
