We've all coveted that one item that always seems to elude us for years (especially if you don't want to pay a gazillion dollars for it). In Janine Rose's case, it was a mid-century modern bench. Rather than continue to wait and wait until she found exactly what she wanted, she decided to make her own!
For a total of $147, Janine Rose of Salvage Love built her own bench from scratch. You heard me right. She didn't reupholster an existing bench. The only parts that came pre-built were the salvaged legs she bought off ebay.
She shows a wonderful step-by-step photo essay of the process, though it looks like you should be pretty adept at sewing to get the cording in the upholstery done just right. It's enough of an inspiration for me to use this as a jumping off point to reupholster my own little ottoman that looks like the shabby younger sibling to this beautiful bench.
What do you think? Would you keep looking, or would you do like Janine Rose and DIY one?
