Tents and teepees have been very much on my mind as of late. I want to create some small place where my children can go to retreat, read, and relax. This step by step tutorial over on A Beautiful Mess is refreshingly easy to follow, and gives me no excuse not to do it.
We love how the crochet here allows the child to look out, but still makes it difficult to see in. Just perfect for a special hideaway.

White Enamel Four-P...
I had the best time as a child trying to figure out where and how to attach blankets to make my own tent. I'm sure that type of play inspired my adult career choice in architecture and construction. A ready made frame somehow seems unimaginative and less fun.
Totally agree with SkippingDaisies. A little triangle tent is pretty lame compared to what we created when we were little. Maybe our forts were not at photogenic as this one, but, especially to us, they were way way cooler--multiroom mazes sometimes. Just give your kids your old ratty sheets--or go buy some super cheap ones from a thrift store, and let them have at it. We even created some pretty cool designs with the fitted sheets!
I would have loved this as a kid. I lived in a small house and it seemed that everywhere I tried to put my blanket tent was in my Mom's way and it soon quickly came down. You could set this tent up anywhere and it's so portable. I think this is a fab idea but would also like to see a teepee....and if you had several - viola! a tent mansion!!!
No, this is cool. Our house is so small, forts only last an hour until we need the space. I like the quick fold up and lace. No sofa cushions and chairs to drag back in place! And superior to those suspended round reading nook things Land of Nod sells. This project would take a weekend by my estimate, not as quick as all that, but probably worth it.
Cute, cute:) I love that blog but if I spend too much time there I get major hipster-twee overload;). I probably wouldn't use the lace b/c then you wouldn't need a flashlight..... My kiddos are not much interested in play tents anymore though <sigh>.
Really cute!
