Are you looking to spruce up your bedroom? The headboard is a great place to start, especially if you can find reclaimed materials in which to work with. If you don't know where to go in your neighborhood for salvaged wood, no worries, you can still make this heavenly headboard for under $80!
This out-of-sight diy creation is a recreation of this headboard and although some might just shill out the cash to buy the retail version, it's something that can be easily made with the help of a few supplies.
This headboard was created by Nicole over at Create and Delegate based on plans from Ana at Knock Off Wood. Although Nicole used wood from her local Home Depot, there's no reason you can't use the same plans and pick up some salvaged wood from your local Re-Store or Salvage Company. Nicole did a fabulous job on this headboard! She built it with a regular ole hammer and nails all by herself! You can use any width boards that you have on hand for the planks, as long as they are a standard 3/4" thick, so go tear down the shed or some old shelving. I like to rescue old crates and pallets, tear them apart, and use for projects like this. FREE and Green!
Thank you Ana for the plans!
i love knock off wood! seriously, we haven't tried anything just yet as we're 'collecting' our reclaimed wood slowly...but you better believe, i'll be RACING to her site for inspiration and plans galore! this headboard project turned out TREMENDOUS for $80! cheers
This looks like a great project and maybe I should add it to my wishlist! My last DIY effort was my coffee table top, made from two old shelves braced on the underside with wood from my old computer table. It took some effort to assemble as the shelves were a little warped but it's holding together nicely so far. I keep imagining that one day those old shelves will finally spring apart and launch my succulents and laptop across the livingroom but until then....
