Wow - I had been looking at wallbeds, but they're so expensive an unnecessarily complicated - but this looks great.

with a few mods (like extending a facade up the wall, beefing up the shelf/leg to seem like a mantle, paint/finishes), this could be made to look very much like a fireplace/hearth which would be neat in a grunge-victorian kind of way. otherwise, though, with the look/feel, this seems like a readymade(tm) project, not a $600 furniture spend... maybe it's just me.

I agree with redneckmodern... a great idea, but it looks a little raw and unfinished for the steep price. I thought about a diy murphy bed for my extremely tiny abode. I feel like I could make this myself for much less $$.
The bedspread is definitely from urban outfitters (I have two I've made into bedroom curtains).
My brother made a custom murphy bed that looked like a cabinet using hardwood and an incredible finish, all sorts of hardware, etc...full on custom project, and it cost him $600. I'm sure I could make one (as a non-professional) for much less and make it look like what this company has created here.
That said, I most likely won't. And until I'm ready to pony up the time and energy, I'm going to have to pony up the cash.

I like that you can put artwork inside and out. A big drawback for Murphy beds for me is that they take up wall space. I have too much artwork for that.
I've been searching for wall beds all over, and haven't found ANYTHING that even comes close to this for the price. I just placed my order, and can't wait to get it. As far as making it for cheaper, I'm sure you can, but it requires time, tools, and most of all ability (which I don't have). I love the thought of supporting a small business too. I'll let you all know how the product works.
I love this, and it doesn't seem an outrageous price to me. I spent $400 for the futon we have, and this seems a more efficient use of space. With a small apartment, no place to even consider doing woodworking, and no construction skills whatsoever, this looks awesome. I wish this has existed before we bought the futon!
I SPENT $200. ON AVERAGE WOOD AND QUESS ABOUT 16-20 HRS, SO IF YOU HAVE NO SPACE , NO SKILLS, OR JUST LAZY THIER PRICING IS REASONABLE.
