We've seen a couple of great examples of sail shades in the backyard lately (like here and here) which are especially important if you have babies and young children playing outside. This variation on making shade in your backyard is also quite simple to implement and gives you the flexibility of how much shade you actually want.
Some wire, sturdy anchor points, canvas and grommets is all it takes to have a simple, flexible shade system for your outdoor living space.
