Sometimes even the most perfect rental will have its downside. Too small to have a proper room for a nursery. Not enough closet space. A kids room with no closets at all. Sometimes renters have to get really creative. We've rounded up some of our favorite ways to laugh in the face of a closet-less kids room.

My favorite color is blue but that PURPLE AMOIRE is GOOORGEOUS!!
I have an old TV unit in my garage that I've been struggling what to do with. I don't need closet storage but I'm considering turning it into an office so I can close the doors when not in use. Well, I've been inspired to possibly paint it blue now!! Thanks!
how did they keep the laundry airing/drying rack from collapsing every time anyone looked in its direction!? those things drive me BONKERS
This might not work for renters as it's screwed to the wall and floor, but we've commissioned shelving (with hanging bars) for our closet-less son's room from this etsy seller, reclaimed wood and piping. http://www.etsy.com/listing/90083968/custom-black-pipe-shelving-unit
Eww on having everything exposed. Must be hidden away! Or the clutter vibe would be out of control. Besides, what about drawers?!
I got a wardrobe off of Craigslist that was intended for a dude, so it has a shaving mirror and only is as high as my head - perfect for a kid. I don't know the official antiquing term for it. Anyway, we painted it high-gloss pale yellow and it's perfect for a kid, drawers her height and a small amount of hanging space. It's better than a closet, really, because opening the doors displays it all, unlike a closet.
It doesn't have to be a rental to have no closet space! We're now on our second house with fewer closets than bedrooms.
In the old place the room that was the nursery and then my daughter's room was teeny and closetless. The few items she owned that really needed to be hung up I put in my closet -- at the most this was 4-5 items. Everything else we folded into drawers. Even dresses -- most these days are knit or some other fabric that resists wrinkles pretty well. In our new house she has a fabulous large closet, the best in the house -- but it came with no hanging rod and she survived the 7 months it took me to install one just fine.
Now it is the older kid, my son, who has no closet. But in his old room the closet was given over to shelving for all his toys and projects anyhow! His few hanging items could go on a few hooks on the back of his door. Since he's a teen now, the toys are given away or stored in the basement for infrequent use. He doesn't need a closet and still uses the back of the door to hang his sportscoat, band uniform and a dress shirt or two. Everything else can go in a chest of drawers.
Great ideas for storage. Love the rabbit lamp in the first pic! Got mine from http://www.goodgracious.co.uk they have some fab things!
I would want to attach the ladder from the ceiling
How timely! We are just finishing the paperwork to purchase our first home. It's a tiny cape cod and our daughters' room does not have a closet. These are great tips, thanks!
