When people think of home office decor, they often think of businessman serious or geeked out mess. But home offices can be colourful...dare we say even feminine...and still be quite serious in regards to getting work done. Nicole of Making It Lovely illustrates this point quite nicely, with a space where the computer, printer, and peripherals are all there, but tastefully blurred into the background.
We've been admiring how Nicole has done a great job of matching furnishing elements with tech elements: look how the two IKEA Effektiv units with doors soften the presence of a somewhat large printer that would normally be an eyesore. But here, because the colour and and black outline of the printer and storage units match, the setup seems a natural partnership rather than an invasion from an aesthetic perspective.
Her Apple display complements her West Elm desk, especially using the flip-clock screensaver. And a keyboard tray hides away the keyboard and a Wacom tablet, leaving ample space for nicer decorative elements like an old timey dial phone, vase and lamp. Making it lovely, indeed!

Very nice :)
I like all the PINK!
Love the Mac! :) I especially love how she has all her storage... I dream of storage like that.
i'm officially over flip clocks now.
other than that, NICE PLACE!
Need all the help I can get when it comes to the office. Seems like a never ending mess. Like these products, too: http://stephanieklein.com/2010/01/bringing-order-to-2010.html
I like :)
I am not "over" the flip clock screen saver. In fact, I really like the look of it and the convenience of having a big clock in my office. However, after having it on my lovely new iMac for a couple of months, it has left its imprint on my screen. The desktop background now has a hazy shadow of the outline of the clock, and the letters "AM" are clearly visible, no matter what image I put on my desktop. Beware!!!
Very nice. And there's no reason why fixtures, computers, peripherals should be bulky or ugly anyway!
I almost bought that same desk - didn't quite work for my space, but it looks terrific here!
