Keep it simple. Dark wood cabinets are a bold statement, and one that could potentially look dated in a kitchen that's too busy or cluttered. Keeping the overall d├ęcor simple and straightforward creates a more modern aesthetic.

Consider white walls. The contrast between a pure white wall and a dark wood cabinet or counter is striking and classic.

Think industrial. Metals, including stainless steel, look beautiful against dark wood. Consider installing fixtures with an industrial feel to offset the wood.

Play with mixed woods. Mixing dark and light wood finishes in a kitchen creates depth and warmth.
